Douglas Gordon (b. 1966, Scotland) is a Berlin-based video and installation artist. His work often involves memory and the disruption of perception; by making his audience aware of their own fugitive subjectivity, he questions how we give meaning to our experience of things. He has won various prizes, among which the Turner Prize (1996), the Hugo Boss Prize by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (1998), the London Award for Art and Performance (2011) and the Käthe-Kollwitz-Preis (2012) by the Akademie der Künste in Berlin.
