The Keti Koti Table Foundation invites you to join the Keti Koti table dialogues on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July 2019.

The Keti Koti Table Foundation was established in 2012 to broaden the remembrance and celebration of the abolition of slavery on 1 July 1863 to all Dutch people. White Dutch people in particular often do not know this past and its consequences and do not naturally face this.

The Keti Koti dialogues are held by couples and facilitated by Mercedes Zandwijk (Initiator Keti Koti Table) or Machiel Keestra (philosopher and diversity officer department of Science of the UVA). The location is at a table in the ground floor gallery MELLY at Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art. A dialogue conversation lasts a total of 45 minutes. After the dialogue conversation, the audience present will be given the opportunity to talk for 15 minutes. Then you pass the baton to the next couple.

These two days will be filled by a total of 14 couples. Public is welcome from 11:00 till 18:00 to listen to these conversations In addition, we have a two time 30 minute slot available for both days for open registrations, where a total of 4 couples can have a conversation at the table. Would you like to participate in a conversation with Mercedes Zandwijk or Machiel Keestra and a discussion partner? Then sign up at [email protected].
