Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam is looking for new members for its Supervisory Board. The ideal candidates are interested in the development of contemporary art and culture, interested in developing a meaningful relationship to a cultural institution with a local and global reach; and professionally trained in institutional development. These are non-paid positions. Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art endorses the Code Cultural Diversity. Board meetings take place approximately four times a year and are held in English.
The ideal candidate also complies with two or more of these characteristics: (a) is an expert in art and architectural history; (b) is interested in the histories and present debates about cultural representation; (c) can provide advice on legal matters; (d) is part of an entrepreneurial network and/or has a solid social network. Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, including a self-introduction and an explanation of why their candidacy merits consideration, which should respond in one way or other to the desired profile listed above. The letter should not exceed 2 pages.
Applications of finalists will be reviewed by the existing members of the Supervisory Board. The Supervisory Board is responsible for monitoring the policy and the general course of events in the institution. In addition, the Supervisory Board members assist the Director by providing advice. Together, the Supervisory Board members have both the expertise and the broad knowledge required. The desired size and composition of this body are described in the Supervisory Board Regulations. Members of the Supervisory Board are appointed for a term of three years and may be re-elected twice after this term has ended.
