Tinde van Andel

Tinde van Andel is an ethnobotanist and employed at Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Leiden, the Netherlands. She holds the Clusius chair of History of Botany and Gardens at Leiden University and a chair in Ethnobotany at Wageningen University. Using ethnobotany and genomics, she studies plant species that migrated along with the transatlantic slave trade from Africa to the Americas. She focuses specifically on traditional Maroon rice in Suriname.
