Sarah Demeuse

Sarah Demeuse makes exhibitions and books, translates, writes, and reads about art and beyond. She has worked as Rivet, together with Manuela Moscoso (rivet-rivet.net) and was a member of the 9th Mercosul Biennial Porto Alegre (2012-2013) curatorial team. Sarah has independently worked on a variety of exhibition and mediation projects in Argentina (dixit ArteBA, Agatha Costure), Brasil (32nd Bienal de São Paulo), Mexico (Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil), Spain (Espai Cultural Caja Madrid), the U.S. (Goethe Institut New York, ISCP, Kiria Koula, P!, A.I.R.). As editor, she has realized book projects with Archive Books, Bom Dia Boa Tarde Boa Noite, Project Projects, and Roma Publications. Sarah holds a Master's degree in Curatorial Studies from CCS Bard and has a doctorate in Romance Languages and Literatures from UC Berkeley specializing in art criticism and mass media experimentation in early twentieth-century Spain and Catalonia. Her writings about and around art have appeared in catalogs and publications such as Art Papers, Art in America, Bulletins of The Serving Library, Frieze Magazine, Hyperallergic, Open, Red Hook, Witte de With Review. At the moment, Sarah is editor and instigator of dos, a site for voices and exhibitions taking the shape of a podcast series and website (dos-dos.org). Sarah has taught literature at Columbia University, the Exhibition Making Practicum at the Master in Curatorial Practice Program at SVA, and currently co-teaches a seminar at Barnard College about writing and graphic design.
