Mike Cooter (b.1978, UK) lives and works in London. He studied at the Ruskin, University of Oxford and the Royal College of Art, London. His work investigates the narrative agency and evidential potential of sculptural artifacts. Interdisciplinary research resolves into audio, film, text and layered installations that incorporate correspondence, interviews, loaned and re-fabricated objects and archival material. Cooter is currently producing Dingus, a radio crime serial about an object, commissioned by ResonanceFM (UK, for broadcast in 2014) and is a practice-based Fine Art PhD candidate at Goldsmiths College (London). Solo projects include Set Theory, GP & N Vallois, Paris (2013), Lapidarium, ZINGERpresents, Amsterdam (2011), The Snail, Serpentine Gallery, London (2010) and Original Intent, ICA, London (2008). Group exhibitions include A Slowdown at the Museum, Extra City Kunsthal Antwerp, A Darkness More Than Night, QUAD, Derby, and Maybe I Should Have Called It ‘My Life in 19 Minutes’, Calder Foundation, New York (all 2011). He was the UK Visual Art Resident at Cove Park, Scotland, in 2012 and his curatorial project In form express and admirable (in a sense lying, in a sense not) had its first iteration in London in late 2013.
