Enang Wattimena is a first-time director. He likes to immerse himself in family or cultural stories. And is driven to find the voice of the generations who went before him. You could say to get to know them better. Besides being the director of "Liefde" he also did the production, some editing and artwork for the movie. It's his ambition to pursue a career as a filmmaker. "Liefde" was made with the support of the CinemAsia Film Festival, as a part of their FilmLAB of 2017. The festival strives to broaden the horizon of the audience in the Netherlands, in order to bring diversity to the screen. That year's theme was "love" and focused on untold stories of the European-Asian diaspora. Enang send in this story of his Indo-European heritage, a love story against the setting of the Dutch colonial past.
